Day 20 : Find Joy In The Simple Things
There wasn’t much activity in school today as 2020 continued in a slow lazy pace. We cooked lunch and took time to prepare essential cooking pastes like the Bumbu Bali and Bumbu Hijau (I’m salivating again just thinking about these). It suited me fine since I wasn’t in the mood to do much, contented just to help pick the Moringa leaves and dice the shallots and chilies. Call me simpleminded but I find it so therapeutic to do these supposedly mundane tasks! Kind of like a cooking meditation, where all you focus on is the task on hand and the loving relationship you establish with the veggies.
When we become mindful of the veggies, we see them. We see how much effort was made to grow them. We see how much effort was made to harvest them. We see how much effort was made to prepare and cook them. And we developed so much gratitude when we eat them.
There is joy to be found in simple things! Don’t have to search too hard—just start with your food!
